Luka is Born!

Luka Ewan Hagerty

... born 3:34 pm on Sunday August 15th, on the middlest day of summer (according to his dad) in Ballard, Seattle where life is as peaceful as the salmon are silver. A heat wave passed through over the weekend and brought us 3.9 kilos of jaundiced wonderment. He already knows well how to manipulate us with cuteness.  

His Mama is from Europe and his daddy is a science guy, so we like to say that he had 3.9 kilos at birth, but that's 8 lbs, 10 oz in case you were wondering.

Also his name is Serbian, Scottish and Irish, in that order. His dad had floated some wild ideas including Llewellyn and Joao, so we think he's probably lucky how it ended up. Dad likes to call him Luka Ewan as a double name.

Other facts

Luka Ewan has traveled (in utero) to Belgrade, Vancouver, Houston, Austin, Portland, Boulder, all over Washington State, and Frankfurt and Chicago if you count stop-overs.

... attended a camera obscura concert and two Nouvelle Vague concerts 

... is 50%-ile in height and weight and noggin-circumference.

... is 100%-ile in prenatal arugula consumption (unsubstantiated)

Here he's just a few minutes old with a huge swollen Abe Simpson conehead ... well at least it seemed more extreme in person

But there were some early signs of resemblance to papa too ...

... though the real proof was the 20+ hours of labor that both boys imposed on their moms.
